Description | m-3M3FBS is a cell permeable and specific activator of phospholipase C (PLC) that has been shown to stimulate the PLC-mediated intracellular Ca2+ release, inositol phosphates production and superoxide generation in various cell types. It activates all PLC isotypes (beta2, beta3, gamma1, gamma2 and delta1) in vitro, but not heterotrimeric G proteins, PI 3-kinase or PLD. m-3M3FBS also affects calcium homeostasis independently of PLC activation. m-3M3FBS induces apoptosis in tumor cells through caspase activation, down-regulation of XIAP and intracellular calcium signaling. m-3M3FBS has been shown in vitro to trigger mitochondrial damage and activate NLRP10 (a bona fide inflammasome binding to Asc and Caspase-1) in keratinocytes. NLRP10 acts also as inflammasome in intestine epithelial cells and protects against autoinflammation in the gut. |
