Human Carcinoembryonic Antigen Related Cell Adhesion Molecule 6 (CEACAM6) ELISA Kit
Principle of the Assay
The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to CEACAM6. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody preparation specific to CEACAM6. Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After the TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain CEACAM6, biotin-conjugated antibody, and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution, and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm ± 10nm. The concentration of CEACAM6 in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.
For Use with serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants. For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
Target Information
Cell surface glycoprotein that plays a role in cell adhesion and tumor progression (PubMed:2803308, PubMed:2022629, PubMed:1378450, PubMed:8776764, PubMed:11590190, PubMed:10910050, PubMed:14724575, PubMed:16204051). Intercellular adhesion occurs in a calcium- and fibronectin-independent manner (PubMed:2022629, PubMed:16204051). Mediates homophilic and heterophilic cell adhesion with other carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecules, such as CEACAM5 and CEACAM8 (PubMed:2803308, PubMed:2022629, PubMed:8776764, PubMed:11590190, PubMed:16204051). Heterophilic interaction with CEACAM8 occurs in activated neutrophils (PubMed:8776764). Plays a role in neutrophil adhesion to cytokine-activated endothelial cells (PubMed:1378450). Plays a role as an oncogene by promoting tumor progression; positively regulates cell migration, cell adhesion to endothelial cells and cell invasion (PubMed:16204051). Also involved in the metastatic cascade process by inducing gain resistance to anoikis of pancreatic adenocarcinoma and colorectal carcinoma cells (PubMed:10910050, PubMed:14724575).

Performance Characteristics
REPEATABILITY |
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): 3 samples with low, middle, and high-level CEACAM6 were tested 20 times on one plate, respectively. |
SENSITIVITY | The minimum detectable dose was 9.68pg/mL. |
ASSAY RANGE | 23.4-1500pg/mL |
SPECIFICITY | This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for the detection of CEACAM6. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between CEACAM6 and analogs was observed. Note: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible to perform all possible cross-reactivity detection tests between CEACAM6 and all analogs, therefore, cross reactivity may still exist. |
