Hydrogen Peroxide (H₂O₂) Assay Kit

Overview

This kit measures hydrogen peroxide content rather than the activity of enzymes that generate or remove hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is quantified using the yellow complex formed in its reaction with titanium sulfate.

Hydrogen peroxide is a common reactive oxygen species generated and removed by multiple cellular enzymes. It participates in oxidative signaling but can damage nucleic acids, proteins, and membranes when present in excess.

Assay principle

Hydrogen peroxide reacts with titanium sulfate to form a yellow peroxotitanium complex with a characteristic absorbance at 415 nm.
